Coaches: How Can I Support You in 2010?

Welcome to 2010! This feels to me like an especially potent new year, like anything is possible and it’s time to get really focused on what will make a difference. I’m starting:

  • my thirteenth year as a coach.
  • my ninth year working with coaches to help them build a soul-satisfying coaching business.
  • my fourth year since founding Prosperous Coach to take that mission to the next level.
  • the second year of the Prosperous Coach blog.

I’ve deeply enjoyed working with coaches, on so many levels. But one of the best things has been seeing them reach success so much faster than I did when I started. That just makes my heart sing.

Over the years coaches have told me a lot about what kind of support they need to be on top of their game. They want things like:

  • to master all the best practices of coaching.
  • to use the powerful coaching skills they have learned to help people thrive.
  • to be confident that clients will gladly pay good money for their coaching.
  • to wake up in the morning knowing what to do next to build their business.
  • to make a great income and enjoy the freedom of working for themselves.

I’m here to champion those things. I’m all about providing real, applicable, nuts-and-bolts support for coaches like you to get ideal clients, serve them well, and earn a better income. So far I can offer you:

  • this blog, 50 articles and counting, all about what it takes to develop a successful coaching business, and
  • several business building ebooks and programs specifically for coaches, including
  • my six-week workshop on how to choose a viable niche market, create core marketing language that speaks to your market, and design coaching programs that your market will perceive as essential. (Next one starts January 12.)

But it’s a new year and a new time, and I want to know what I can support you with this year, to help you be a top coach in 2010.

I really want your help. Tell me exactly, in specific terms, what you want me to deliver this year in the way of blog posts, programs and products, or whatever kind of support you most want.

Leave your comment on this post, in the form below, and let’s start a conversation.

Thank you, and may 2010 be your most satisfying and fulfilling year yet!

More than anything Rhonda, I want my marketing to be exquisitely effective, so I can focus my energy on what I love – coaching people creatively. I am inspired developing programs, connecting with clients and coaching. I don’t feel inspired about marketing. I have to “rise to the occasion” to market. I also don’t love the back end – accounting, bookkeeping, keeping up with current tech issues. I want to spend as much of my time as possible on the aspects of coaching that I love. That is the reason I was drawn to coaching in the first place, so I could coach.

Exquisitely effective at marketing. A smart goal, Leslie!

I really feel for ya about not being inspired by marketing. I felt like that when I wasn’t getting results early on in my coaching biz. My approach was weak. I was trying so hard to sell my coaching and only the initiated were buying.

Marketing in a way that gets results is fun and you can actually make money by marketing! You can market less if your marketing is focused on a viable group. Have you considered targeting a viable coaching market? It’s different than niching. And it makes marketing so exquisitely effective. You’ll be great at it and it won’t bother you anymore.

how to help prospective clients see that coaching is an essential rather than a luxury

    • http://www.prosperouscoach.com Rhonda Hess

Truly, Sylvia. This is exactly what I teach in my workshop: How to Choose & Champion Your Ideal Coaching Market. In fact, that’s the language I use. When you target a viable market, research what makes them tick and design your services to serve them — you become an essential support person for them. It seems like magic, but it’s just good sense. There’s still room for you in the January 12 workshop. http://idealcoachingmarket.com

Yep, I’m a graduate of Rhonda’s Ideal Coaching Market. And, Leslie and Sylvia, I can tell you it is worth every penny. (Unsolicited testimonial here!)

Rhonda, what I could really use in 2010 is:
    1. Info about blogging and blog sites as it applies to my coaching business.
    2. How to use social media/networking effficiently and effectively so it pays off for my business.
    3. A real, honest-to-goodness book where I can access all that information you have in your head!

Maybe we could do a vulcan mind-meld, Carol, and you’ll have all that stuff in my head. Watch out though, might be too much too soon! No really, thanks so much for these specific things. Can do and will do. Your wish is my command.

I’d like to get a strategy in place that reaches out in specific ways to leverage specific online tools (social media, meetup groups, email, blogsite). A way to have a fresh voice and an intention for each tool (ie twitter for inspiring quotes and course offering announcements), building trust and inviting people into my practice.

Yes, Matt, those free avenues of marketing are really important and help you have more frequencies where you and your programs show up. I’ll definitely write about these things more. Thank you!
